Before you start streaming with Kodi Addons or Builds, I would like to warn you that everything you stream on Kodi is visible to your ISP and Government. This means, streaming copyrighted content (free movies, TV shows, live TV, and Sports) might get you into legal trouble.
Thankfully, there is a foolproof way to keep all your streaming activities hidden from your ISP and the Government. All you need is a good VPN for Kodi. A VPN will mask your original IP which is 41.251.208.58 and will help you bypass Online Surveillance, ISP throttling, and content geo-restrictions.
I personally use and recommend ExpressVPN, which is the fastest and most secure VPN. It is compatible with all kinds of streaming apps and devices.
NOTE: We do not encourage the violation of copyright laws. But, what if you end up streaming content from an illegitimate source unintentionally? It is not always easy to tell the difference between a legit and illegal source.
So, before you start streaming on Kodi, here’s how to get VPN protection in 3 simple steps.
Step 1: Get the ExpressVPN subscription HERE. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Meaning, you can use it free for the first 30-days and if you are not satisfied with the performance (which is highly unlikely), you can ask for a full refund.
Step 2: Click HERE to download and install the ExpressVPN app on your streaming device. If you are using a FireStick, I have given the exact steps starting with Step 4 below.
Step 3: Click the Power icon to connect to a VPN server. That’s all. Your connection is now secure with the fastest and best VPN for Kodi.

The following are the steps to install Kodi VPN on your Fire TV devices. If you have other streaming devices, follow Step 1-3 above.
Step 4: Subscribe to ExpressVPN HERE (if not subscribed already).
Step 5: Go to Fire TV Stick home screen. Click Find followed by Search option (see image below).

Step 6: Type Expressvpn in the search bar and select when it shows up.

Step 7: Click Download.

Step 8: Open the ExpressVPN app and Sign in using the email ID and password that you created while buying the ExpressVPN subscription.

Step 9: Click the Power icon to connect to a VPN server. That’s all. Your FireStick is now secured with the fastest VPN.

Final Words
In this guide, I showed you how to watch IPTV on Kodi in two different ways, without involving a cable service or a satellite antenna. IPTV is one of the conveniences of the century, letting you use your internet connection to stream virtually any live TV channel. If you have any questions or suggestions about this guide, feel free to comment below.
How to Watch IPTV on Kodi: 2 Complete Setup Guides (2025)
Kodi is one of the most powerful media centers available today, but its true power is unlocked when you use it to stream live television. If you are looking for how to watch IPTV on Kodi, you have come to the right place.
Unlike standard cable subscriptions, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) allows you to stream channels over the internet. However, Kodi does not come with channels pre-installed. You need to configure it.
In this guide, we will cover two alternative solutions. Guide 1 uses the official PVR method (best for paid subscriptions or M3U lists), and Guide 2 uses third-party addons (best for free content).
Important: Protect Your Privacy
Before we begin, it is crucial to understand that streaming content on Kodi—especially via third-party addons—is visible to your ISP and government. Many addons scrape content from various sources, and streaming copyrighted material can lead to legal issues or ISP throttling.
To protect your identity and bypass geo-restrictions, we strongly recommend using a VPN for Kodi. A VPN masks your IP address, ensuring your streaming activity remains anonymous.
Guide 1: The Official Method (PVR IPTV Simple Client)
This is the cleanest and most reliable way to watch IPTV on Kodi. It requires you to have an M3U Playlist URL. This URL usually comes from your paid IPTV provider, or you can use free open-source lists.
Step 1: Install the PVR Client
The PVR IPTV Simple Client is the standard bridge between your M3U link and Kodi’s interface.
Launch Kodi.
Click the Settings Gear icon (top left).
Select Add-ons.
Choose Install from repository.
Scroll down and select PVR Clients.
Find PVR IPTV Simple Client in the list and click it.
Click Install and wait for the “Add-on installed” notification.
Step 2: Add Your M3U Playlist
Now that the client is installed, you need to feed it the channels.
Stay on the same screen and open PVR IPTV Simple Client again.
Click Configure.
Go to the General tab.
Select M3U playlist URL.
Enter your URL:
If you have a paid provider: Enter the URL they sent you via email.
If you want free channels: Enter this open-source collection URL:
https://iptv-org.github.io/iptv/index.m3u
Click OK.
Restart Kodi. This is essential.
Step 3: Accessing Channels
Once Kodi restarts, the PVR client will launch automatically.
Go to the main menu and select the TV tab.
Click on Channels.
You will now see your full list of live TV channels. You can use the side menu to filter by Channel Groups (Sports, News, Movies, etc.).
Guide 2: The Alternative Solution (Third-Party Addons)
If you do not have an M3U playlist, you can use third-party video addons. These act like “apps” inside Kodi that scrape links from the internet.
Note: We will use “The Crew” as our example, as it is one of the most versatile addons mentioned in community lists.
Step 1: Enable Unknown Sources
Because these addons are not in the official Kodi store, you must allow permission.
Go to Settings > System.
Select the Add-ons tab.
Toggle the switch for Unknown Sources to ON.
Click Yes on the warning prompt.
Step 2: Add the File Source
Go back to Settings and select File Manager.
Double-click Add source.
Click on <None>.
Enter the repository URL exactly:
https://team-crew.github.ioName the source Crew and click OK.
Step 3: Install the Repository
Go back to the Add-ons menu.
Select Install from zip file.
Find Crew (or whatever you named it) in the list.
Select the repository.thecrew.zip file.
Wait for the notification saying the repo is installed.
Step 4: Install the Addon
Select Install from repository.
Open THE CREW REPO.
Go to Video add-ons.
Select The Crew (or Purely Wrestling / SportsDevil if available).
Click Install.
Once finished, you can find your new addon in the Add-ons section of the main menu. Open it, browse the folders (IPTV, Sports, Movies), and click a link to start streaming.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you encounter problems while trying to watch IPTV on Kodi, check these quick fixes:
Buffering: This is usually caused by a slow internet connection or ISP throttling. Using a VPN can often stop throttling.
Channels Not Loading in PVR: Ensure you typed the M3U URL exactly right. One wrong character will break the whole list. Always restart Kodi after updating the playlist.
Addon Installation Failed: Repositories frequently go offline. If a URL doesn’t work, search Google for “The Crew Repo updated URL” to find the newest address.
Conclusion
You now have two powerful methods to stream content. Guide 1 (PVR Simple Client) is perfect if you want a cable-like experience with an electronic program guide (EPG). Guide 2 (Third-party addons) is excellent for finding specific sports events or movies on demand.
Whichever method you choose, always ensure your Kodi version is up to date and your connection is secure.
